|Mark Rapp & Derek Lee Bronston's "The Song Project"- CD Release Show
The Song Project, initially a digital collaboration between trumpeter Mark Rapp and guitarist/vocalist Derek Lee Bronston, became a fully realized concept with their first tour in the early Spring of 2010 which included venues in Geneva and New York City. Developing as an online recording experiment where Bronston recorded in Brooklyn and Rapp in Europe, the results exceeded all expectations, delivering organic tracks filled with nuance. The culmination of those efforts can be found here: http://thesongproject.net

While on tour in Switzerland in May of 2010, the duo recorded their debut CD, "Art of the Song, Vol.1". The recording is made up of original pieces from both members as well a mix of covers including: AC/DC's "All Night Long", an exploratory Radiohead tune and "Mad World" by Tears for Fears. Not your run-of-the-mill jazz group, The Song Project presents an engaging musical performance where each song is explored freely, melodically and with passion while adhering to the ideals of jazz - the exploration of song both written and improvised.
The recording, set for release by Paved Earth Music in the Fall 2010, will have limited physical printings for sale at live performances and will be released worldwide through iTunes. Apple's App. Store will sell the release in the form of an "Applum", developed by Paved Earth Music and theConspiracy,LLC. An "Applum" is an iPhone/iPad App combined with an album. The Application contains an extended digital album with the music, cover art gallery, text, web links, images, videos and more, all contained in one download. This is a complete multimedia experience. The cover art gallery is by renowned designer & photo-illustrator Sean Mosher-Smith who has done work for Lenny Kravitz, The Rolling Stones, Joss Stone, KT Tunstall, Courtney Love, Iggy Pop, Dave Mattews Band and many more.
