“Israeli guitarist and composer Nadav Remez is one of the best recent discoveries of the jazz scene... A natural sense of phrasing and a mastery of the language are making this young soloist particularly promising.” -L’est Republicaine

Inspired by the music he grew up with in his home country of Israel, and the music he has been exposed to since coming to the United States four years ago, Remez manages to fuse his musical influences into the idiom of contemporary jazz in a fresh and innovative way.

Remez moved to the United States in 2005 after receiving a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music. There, he studied with some of the greatest jazz legends, including Joe Lovano, Ralph Peterson, Jamey Haddad, Mark Whitfield and Tim Miller.

In 2007, Remez was invited to play in the Montreux Gibson Jazz Guitar Competition in Switzerland, where he was selected as a semi-finalist.

Remez continued his studies, joining the Jazz Master's program in New England Conservatory in Boston in Fall of 2008. There he studied with George Garzone, Frank Carlberg, Jerry Bergonzi and Ken Schaphorst. It was around that time that Nadav started composing music for a concept album in which Nadav reflects on his years in the United States, as well as his earlier years growing up in Israel, into musical form. Recently, In 2010, the work on the album, entitled 'So Far', was completed.

Nadav’s group will premier material from the new release, featuring: Myron Walden - alto saxophone, Jonathan Greenstein - tenor saxophone, Shai Maestro - piano, Noam Wiesenberg - bass and Ziv Ravitz - drums. Special guest: Itamar Borochov - trumpet.
