"Israel- born, Boston resident guitarist Assaf Kehati’s group grabs a page from the glory days of the ECM label. His band features a marvelously spacious sound, austere yet melodic soloing, group interplay that’s scarily telepathic and all-stars at every position".
- KEVIN CONVEY, BOSTON HERALD.

Assaf Kehati Quartet
FEATURING:
Assaf Kehati, guitar
Will Vinson, sax
Ziv Ravitz, drums
Noam Wiesenberg, bass
Assaf Kehati has been performing with legendary drummer Billy Hart and up-and-coming bassist Noam Wiesenberg throughout the past two years. The trio plays both Kehati’s and Hart’s original compositions as well as jazz standards by composers such as Arthur Altman, Irving Berlin and Ray Noble. His debut CD “A View From My Window” was released in January 2010 and is played on radio stations worldwide in the USA, Portugal, Israel, Macedonia, Spain, London, Switzerland, Greece and Canada.

Billy Hart is one of the most in-demand jazz drummers alive. He has worked with some of the most important jazz musicians in history such as Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, Wes Montgomery, Michael Brecker, Pat Metheny, Herbie Hancock, Stan Getz, and Jimmy Smith and appeared on more than 600 records. His current group is a quartet with Mark Turner, Ethan Iverson, and Ben Street.

Noam Wiesenberg has been a recipient of the AICF’s scholarships for 10 years (1998-2008). By winning 2nd prize in the “Israeli Jazz Player of the Year” competition, Noam participated in the annual IASJ convention, held in Riga, Latvia. He has performed and/or recorded with acclaimed artists, including: Jeff “Tain” Watts, Roy Hargrove, Avishai Cohen (Trumpet), Daniel Zamir, Matisyahu, Julian Lage, Mark O’Connor, Andy Statman, Zohar Fresco and many more.

More reviews:

"Lots of thematic phrases in Kehati’s solo, hinting at the harmony and going outside just enough to let his hair down. Sometimes it’s hard to keep things fresh and keep the listener engaged when there is no polyphonic harmony going on behind the soloist; this is not a problem for Kehati".
JOSH SAGER, FRETTERVERSE.

The second song from the performance, "The Most Beautiful Flower That Ever Grew In My Garden," was a befitting example, reflective of Kehati's varied influences. A tense, passionate piece, it began with a haunting melody, built on a minor vamp. Throughout the composition, the basic 7/4 meter experienced numerous rhythmic changes, against which Kehati altered his playing style.
TIM O'KEEFE, ALL ABOUT JAZZ.
