The Blue Note Emerging Artist Series, sponsored by Brother Thelonious of North Coast Brewing Company, is designed to give young up and coming students the opportunity to perform at the Blue Note as an opening act for our jazz legends. The opening act performance will go from 6:30 - 7:30pm and will provide access to Michel Camilo's 8:00pm set at no additional charge.

Javier Rosario was born in the Dominican Republic and started playing violin at the age of 10, switching to guitar by the age of 16. Two years later, he was awarded the Michel Camilo Scholarship to Berklee College of Music, where he graduated magna cum laude in 2009.



Since his 2006 arrival in Boston, he has performed with many artists including Joe Lovano, Phil Grenadier, Vardan Ovsepian, Jeff Galindo, John Lockwood, Nando Michelin, Fernando Huergo, Pablo Bencid, Bret Willmott, Eugene Friesen, Leo Genovese, Bob Weiner, Dan Meron, Winston Maccow, Berklee All-Stars, Fenway Back Bay Brass Orchestra, among others. He also studied under master guitar instructors Mick Goodrick, Tim Miller, and Bret Willmott, as well as improvisation with renowned educators, Hal Crook and Mitch Haupers.

After being named "Visiting Artist" at the National Conservatory of Music (Dominican Republic) in the Spring 2010, Javier was also awarded with the Presidential Scholarship, Ambassador Assistantship and the Experiential Education Assistantship at Longy School of Music for Fall 2010 entrance into their Master of Modern American Music program.
