The Archi-tet is a Jazz band led by Aki Yamamoto, with three horns and a rhythm section. It was formed in 2008 and their first CD was released that same year. During 2009 and 2010, the Archi-tet had performed at many venues, and started to be known in the New York area. The band has performed at LEXUS “Design Matter” show with The Roots in front of Mr. Toyota, the president of Toyota Company. One of the band’s original compositions was used as a theme song in a TV program at NHK station in Japan.

On 2013, their second album “Red Blankey” was released from QUALIA & COMPANY media house on vinyl. The recording was done at Avatar Studio, mixed at Manhattan Center Studio and mastered at Sterling Sound, produced for high-end audio world.

The Archi-tet’s music style has roots in Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers with modern tastes of hip-hop, and popular music. Therefore, both straight Jazz swing fans and modern music fans can enjoy the music. The name “Archi-tet” comes from “Architect” obviously, and the concept is to construct the new art work from many different elements.

Aki Yamamoto, the bandleader has been performing bass mainly in the New York area. He is also a composer as he earned his master’s degree in Jazz composition and arranging from William Paterson University. He has played and worked with great musicians including Mulgrew Miller, Jim McNeely, Gene Bertoncini, to name a few. He is also close musical friends with many Japanese jazz performers including Chihiro Yamanaka, Nobuki Takamen and more.
