Sofia Tosello and Yuri Juarez present Tangolandó
FEATURING:
Sofia Tosello, vocals
Yuri Juarez, guitar
Sergio Reyes, violin
Pablo Menares, bass
Hector Morales, percussion

Special Guest:
Mariana Occhiuzzi, flute

Singing in Spanish, Sofia Tosello's performance is always passionate, theatrical and heart-wrecking, in the style of icons like Edith Piaf or the traditional tango singers, yet she exudes a joyful and raw energy. Her music is rooted in the variety of Latin American cancion traditions, including tango, chacarera, bolero filin, son, zamba fused with jazz. Aside from her solo project of which she released her first album on 2009 on Sunnyside Records, she is also a member of the women ensemble CocoMama, a regular guest in the Pedro Giraudo Expansions Big Band, Pablo Mayor's Folklore Urbano, has collaborated on projects with Yuri Juárez for their Tangolandó ensemble (details below), Aquiles Baez, Julio Santillan, Pavel Urkiza, and has performed with countless artists including Horacio "El Negro" Hernandez and Buika, Thalia, Alex Cuba, Marta Gomez. She has performed at venues such as Summerstage Central Park, the Blue Note, the Heckscher Theater, the Jazz Standard, BAM Café, the Aaron Davis Hall and other NYC landmarks, as well the Art Museum of Philadelphia, Ryles Club, the Michigan Women’s Festival, el Teatro Real (Argentina), Macau Jazz Festival (China) and more.

Sofia's latest project, TANGOLANDÓ, is a collaboration with Peruvian guitarist/producer Yuri Juárez, a refreshing fusion that connects musical styles such as tango, milonga, lando, festejo, Peruvian vals all in one unique and innovative sound.
