In 2000 Japanese Pianist Michika Fukumori moved to the United States and began studying with Ron Carter, Geri Allen, and Steve Kuhn. Since then, Michika has played in Manhattan's most prestigious jazz clubs such as Lenox Lounge, University of the Street and Beekman Tower Hotel. In 2004 and 2005 Michika was proud to lead a trio including Per-Ora Gadd playing bass and Chip White on drums, performing a series of dates at New York's jazz mecca, Blue Note. In 2004 Michika recorded her first album, "Infinite Thoughts", joined by David Finck (bass) and Billy Drummond (drums).
Today Michika enjoys a variety of work in the U.S. along with annual trips to her homeland, touring Japan leading trios to quartets for the last five years.
