Dessy Di Lauro delivers a unique flavor of original music she describes as "Feathered Fro-hawk Futuristic Art Deco-Centric Harlem Renaissance Hep Music," with an up-tempo live show incorporating classic elements from the speakeasy era.
Di Lauro is fast becoming one of Blue Note’s favorite with her power-house voice, along with her stellar band and horn section led by her musical director Ric’key Pageot (Madonna, Cirque du Soleil, Jill Scott). Miss Di Lauro evokes the essence of Cab Calloway by blending ragtime music with today’s contemporary R&B music. Although she is a seasoned recording artist with multi-platinum selling album features, she is releasing her first full-length album of her original music entitled, ‘This Is…Neo-Ragtime’, this February Black History Month along with her new music video, Jump N’ Jivin’.
Di Lauro says: ‘I feel like it is the perfect month of the year to release this album because I want to celebrate with everyone the importance of Ragtime music in Black history. Back then, almost a century ago, this genre was at the top of the pop charts and I would like to revive that again. And what better place to celebrate the release of my new album in NYC then at the Blue Note Club’!
Expect nothing less from Di Lauro than a high-caliber, modern-day juke joint jamboree performance from this unique neo-ragtime and contemporary R&B artist.
