Cécile McLorin Salvant w/ The Aaron Diehl Trio
FEATURING:
Cécile McLorin Salvant, voice
Aaron Diehl, piano
Other musicians, TBA

Young French-American singer Cécile McLorin Salvant recently took home first prize in the Thelonious Monk International Vocal Jazz Competition, chosen by a panel of judges – including Dianne Reeves, Dee Dee Bridgewater, and Kurt Elling – who know how to spot the real thing. Born and raised in Miami, she grew up in the U.S. before moving to France to study at the Darius Milhaud Conservatory. In 2009, after a series of concerts in Paris, she recorded her first album, Cécile. A year later, she won the Monk competition, and she hasn't looked back since.

Salvant performs unique interpretations scarcely recorded jazz and blues compositions. She has performed across the globe, accompanied by musical luminaries like Rodney Whitaker, Aaron Diehl, Dan Nimmer, Jonathan Batiste, and Jacky Terrasson. Don't miss the astounding young vocalist about whom Ben Ratliff declared: "She was funny and dire and idiosyncratic ... she seemed fresh, but also as if she had decided long ago that she was an artist."
