At the Blue Note Masterclass, today’s most seminal jazz artists share their knowledge and expertise in a casual and intimate setting of a jazz club. A class consists of a lecture and demonstrations followed by a question and answer session. The class is a rare opportunity for aspiring musicians and avid jazz listeners to hear the voice of an artist whom they admire and ask questions about what they always wanted to know. Attendants are encouraged to bring their instruments.
Today’s Blue Note Master Class features instruction by Wayne Krantz. A renowned fusion guitarist, Krantz has performed and/or recorded with Dave Binney, Donald Fagen (of Steely Dan), the Brecker Brothers, Billy Cobham, Mike Stern, Mike Manieri, and many other top-flight artists. He has also led a storied solo career, boasting a nine-album discography that includes releases like Signals (1991), Long to be Loose (1993), Separate Cages (1996), Greenwich Mean (1999), Krantz Carlock Lefebvre (2009), and Howie 61 (2012). Active as an educator, he currently serves on the faculty of the NYU Jazz Studies department and has taught at Berklee College of Music and at numerous workshops and festivals around the world.
